Yuko Takeuchi has sadly died.
The Japanese actress passed away at the age of 40, according to People on Sunday (September 27).
She was found dead at her Tokyo apartment over the weekend, and transported to a local hospital where she was confirmed dead.
Her death is being presumed a suicide, according to Variety. She is survived by her husband, actor Nakabayashi Taiki, as well as two children.
“It came all of a sudden, and we are all stunned and saddened by the news,” her talent agency, Stardust Promotion Inc., said in a statement to The Japan Times.
She was known for roles in films like Cyborg, Midnight Eagle, and Ringu, the inspiration for 2002′s The Ring.
She also starred in Hulu and HBO Asia’s Miss Sherlock in 2018, and most recently starred in The Confidenceman JP: Princess, which was released in July.
