Scorpio Monthly Horoscope

This could be one of the most important months of 2022 for you, Scorpio—and that’s no exaggeration. On May 16, the skies serve up a total lunar eclipse and full blood moon in Scorpio. Get ready, world: Scorpio 2.0 is about to be unleashed! Ready or not, this eclipse will whisk away parts of your life that no longer contribute a purposeful or passionate piece of your identity. With a bare canvas ripe for reinvention, you can start creating the next big chapter. If you’re content where you are, this eclipse will spotlight your accomplishments and help you start sharing what you value with the world!

No need to rush into anything. In fact, you might be better seeing what comes up this month, which could be a lot! On May 10, expansive Jupiter will exit Pisces and your romantic, creative fifth house, moving into Aries and your analytical sixth house. After a dynamic start to the year, you’re ready to knuckle down and turn those bold ideas into a master plan. Don that project manager’s chapeau and outline budgets, strategies and org charts. Take your time with the process since communication planet Mercury will be retrograde from May 10 to June 3, which is more favorable for behind-the-scenes work.

As Jupiter exits Pisces, it will pass you the mic—so be ready at the start of this month! On May 3, Jupiter forms a friendly sextile with your ruler, deep-diving Pluto, which is in your third house of messaging and ideas. You could gain fame for your talents or even see a post go viral. Someone in your community could make a powerful introduction that brings attention to your passion projects. Be ready to meet, greet and pitch!

Relationships will have a special zing this month as the Sun travels through Taurus and Gemini, activating the two most commitment-oriented zones of your chart. Don’t be surprised if a casual connection moves toward official status quickly, in business, romance or both. With eclipse season upending reality, expecting the unexpected is a smart policy for tapping into the magic of May.

Taurus season doubles your pleasure

Double up for the win! Until May 20, the Sun is in Taurus and your seventh house of one-on-one relationships. Nurture your key relationships and explore ways you can join forces for mutual gain. As a Scorpio, you’ve got a sixth sense for these kinds of synergies. The connections you cultivate now could turn into thriving partnerships before the end of the year.

This month begins in the wake of an April 30 Taurus solar eclipse, a supercharged new moon that set the stage for powerful alliances. Eclipses can disrupt business as usual. On May 5, the Sun will make its once-a-year conjunction (meetup) with radical changemaker Uranus, which could throw a curveball into one of your relationships. Is it time to shake things up? Maybe you’re feeling restless, like things have become stagnant. One thing’s clear: It’s time to shift the way you “do two.”

The Sun and Uranus can both be hotheaded. Together, they may tempt you to push people’s buttons just to get a reaction. Instead, try authentically voicing your truth, even if that means saying, “I’m bored in our relationship and I want to add more excitement.” You don’t have to overturn all your hard-won security for that. Start by honoring your desire to feel vibrant and alive. That’s something we could ALL use more of after a long pandemic.

Health is wealth: Jupiter enters Aries May 10

On May 10, the cosmic headlines go wild as expansive, lucky Jupiter barrels into Aries until October 28, igniting your sixth house of health, fitness and work. This is Jupiter’s first of two trips to the Ram’s domain; it returns from December 20, 2022, until May 16, 2023. Over the next year, your big “adventure” will be getting your life and well-being running like a fine-tuned machine. You could out-“KonMari” tidying-up queen Marie Kondo or get blissfully reacquainted with your yoga mat and juicer. Spring for the fancy Vitamix or food processor—this year, you’ll actually use it!

It hardly sounds sexy, we know—but you might be exhaling with relief. You’ve had Jupiter in Pisces amplifying the energy in your dramatic and passionate fifth house since December 28, 2021. While that may have served up epic love affairs and “peak moments,” the crashes between highs could have been equally intense. After this megadose of Jupiter-style hedonism, many Scorpios are feeling a bit hungover from all the eating, drinking, living and loving. (But oh, the memories you created!)

When truth-teller Jupiter first enters Aries, you’ll get a #nofilter glimpse of where you need to change your ways around eating, exercise or self-care. For some Scorpios, this cycle could reveal a health issue that you weren’t aware of. Should that happen, consider lucky Jupiter your “prevention specialist,” helping you catch anything before it turns into a bigger problem. When we don’t listen to our bodies, emotions and souls, sometimes they have to scream to get our attention.

Jupiter is all about looking at the big picture and then setting inspiring goals. If your stress levels are through the roof, it’s time to downsize or delegate. Get clear about your priorities and give them your all. The sixth house rules employees and service providers, and this is the year when you’ll want to outsource to capable skilled people.

Jupiter was last in Aries on and off from June 2010 until June 2011, so look back to that time for clues of themes that may resurface now. Workwise, you could be in a transitional period, and with knowledge-seeking Jupiter here, you might go back to school to expand your skill set or take an interim “bridge job” while you get other parts of your life sorted.

Mercury turns retrograde May 10 to June 3

Take your time mapping out that new life plan, Scorpio. The same day Jupiter enters Aries, communication and technology planet Mercury turns retrograde, which can foil even the most finely crafted agenda. Mercury will reverse through Gemini until May 22, then Taurus for the duration—the two signs that rule the most committed zones of your chart. Prepare to do some deep work getting your closest relationships on track, calibrating the fine balance between your needs and theirs. It might get a little hairy at moments, but it will be well worth the effort if you emerge with a mutual new respect and understanding for each other next month. With a major eclipse coming to your sign (more on that momentarily), you’ll need to renegotiate a lot of things to accommodate the Scorpio 2.0 who’s about to emerge on the scene!

Reinvention! The May 16 Scorpio full moon and total lunar eclipse

A crowning moment arrives on May 16, when the Scorpio total lunar eclipse and full blood moon rockets through your first house of selfhood. One of your solo endeavors could come together magically today. While your sign doesn’t always feel at ease in the spotlight, you’ll welcome its warmth—if not directly on you, then shining on one of your proudest endeavors. Take a bow, Scorpio. You’ve earned it!

This is the first Scorpio eclipse in a two-year series rippling across the Taurus/Scorpio axis between November 2021 and October 2023. Get ready to reshuffle the balance between “me” and “we” as these eclipses sweep through your first house of self and your seventh house of committed relationships.

With the karmic south node hovering nearby, you may need to release one part of your identity to make way for something new. Or you could become aware of some “shadow work” that needs to be done—for example, dealing with your habit of comparing yourself to your peers or looking at how much another person has instead of focusing on your own mission.

With the full moon in a tight square to repressive Saturn in your domestic zone, you may not get the immediate support from your family that you hoped for now. While your Scorpio nature is to “do you” anyway, you’d certainly prefer if your loved ones got onboard. Don’t force it or turn it into a big upset right now. They may eventually come around once they see you sticking with this new plan and finding happiness and success. Don’t feel pressured to “show them” or prove anything. You need time and space to experiment, make mistakes and correct course. This is your LIFE, not a performance, Scorpio!

Private time: Gemini season (May 20) and the May 30 Gemini new moon

Whew! Ready for a little downtime, Scorpio? As a fixed water sign, you not only absorb energy from everyone around you, but it can get stuck and stagnant if you don’t decompress. Wring yourself out and rejuvenate starting May 20, when the Sun moves into Gemini and your sensual, privacy-seeking eighth house until June 21. Book a deep tissue massage, some energy healing or a sound bath. Anything that moves the trapped emotions out of your body will do the trick. With Mercury retrograde, you’ve probably got a lot going on in your mind as well. Use this spiritual time to quiet that mental chatter through meditation, time in nature and self-care.

The eighth house rules our most intimate ties, as well as joint business ventures. A budding relationship could become uber-official as you explore ways to merge your lives and resources. An investment or wealth-building opportunity could arise during Gemini season. For couples, getting into the deeper textures of your bond might leave you feeling vulnerable, but ultimately, going to those raw places can help you emerge from Gemini season as a rock-solid duo. This is a powerful time for research and transformational inner work, so keep your schedule light. Fiercely guard your uninterrupted time and use it to home in on whatever’s most important to YOU.

Circle the May 30 Gemini new moon as a date to begin exploratory talks about teaming up with a kindred spirit or collaborator. Between now and the December 7 Gemini full moon, you can make incremental progress toward a big goal, such as buying property, getting engaged or paying down some debt. Start now!

Fireworks! Mars and Jupiter connect on May 29

You’re in the mood to dream big—and act on it—when go-getter Mars and visionary Jupiter unite in Aries on May 29, their first conjunction (exact meetup) here since 2011. Under this can-do cosmic combo, your Scorpio attention to detail could pay off. You might push through a difficult phase of a project to reach the finish line. Or you could be inspired to kick up your fitness effort since these powerhouse planets are in your sixth house of wellness and organization. Whether you’re decluttering or changing your diet, think: green, clean and lean.

Has handling the day-to-day details of life distracted you from your passion projects? Look into how you can delegate duties or hire a savvy specialist. Manage your stress levels today. With abundant Jupiter in the mix, you might find yourself with “too much of a good thing” on your hands. This conjunction tempts you to bite off more than you can chew. Make sure you can truly deliver on anything you promise and still have enough time for a balanced life.

You could be torn between playing it wild and mild this month as the love planets spin in dueling directions for the first three weeks of May. Until May 24, spicy Mars is rounding out a trip through Pisces and your passionate fifth house, dialing up the lusty antics as well as the drama. But from May 2 to 28, romantic Venus is in Aries and your sensible, organized sixth house, sounding the call for cooler heads to prevail. For couples, this is a great time to start working out together or to tackle a big cleanup project—and bring some playfulness to it! A little friendly competition could even heat up your attraction.

On May 28, Venus moves into Taurus and your relationship house, staying until June 22. The end of the month turns your attention to twosomes. However, Mercury is retrograde in Taurus from May 22 to June 3, which could scramble signals and stir up disagreements. Since Mercury retrograde can bring back people from your past, an ex could resurface. Is this a second chance to do it right…or just a bad idea? Take your time to discern before leaping into anything you can’t undo easily.

It’s nice to be in control, Scorpio, but who says that has to be a one-person job? This month’s stars nudge you to start forging partnerships and sharing the power. The Sun is moving through Taurus and your seventh house of commitments until May 20, when it plunges into Gemini and your eighth house of strategic alliances. Dynamic duos can take you far. Reach out for support and mentorship or work the barter system. The important part? Make sure it feels like an even exchange.

With enterprising Jupiter moving into Aries and your organized sixth house from May 10 to October 28, you’ll be inspired to get your systems in place. You might decide to hire a great service provider or assistant, or to go back to school to polish up your skills in a specific area. Not sure what you want to do next? Consider a part-time or bridge job to pay the bills while you explore options.

That’s all the likelier since May 16 will serve up a total lunar eclipse in YOUR sign, which kicks off a major moment of reinvention. You might suddenly be struck with the urge to pivot, and once this hits, there’s no turning back. This spotlight moment is a cosmic reminder to step into your greatness and own it. If you’ve been getting a little down on yourself, prepare to be nudged. Start the day by asking the universe to give you positive reinforcement of your purpose—and the best possible outlets for sharing that light!
